Shop Policies

• Repairs are by appointment only (no walk-ins). To book an appointment, please call or text 917-399-2047, or email jreinhardt5@gmail.com. Please make every effort to schedule repairs well in advance to avoid rush or emergency charges.

• In-person Repairs are strictly drop-off/pick-up only, though estimates and post-repair testing may be conducted on-site. Customers wishing to remain in the area while repairs are in progress may request a list of nearby coffee houses, restaurants, and attractions. Repairs requiring more than two hours’ labor must be left overnight.

• Mail-in repairs are available (and encouraged!). Customers assume all liability for loss or damage during shipping, so insurance on all shipments (both directions) is strongly recommended unless you’re certain that your own policy already provides coverage. I ship via USPS Priority Mail or Express Mail (signature required) only, with all shipping costs covered by the customer. FedEx, UPS, and DHL (signature required) are acceptable for inbound shipments.

• All drop-off repair appointments are subject to a $50 shop minimum.

• All mail-in repairs are subject to a $100 shop minimum.

• In-Person estimates and consultations under 20 minutes are free of charge. Estimates that do not result in repair work are not subject to the shop minimum, which is to say…If you come in for an estimate and decide not to go ahead with work, you will NOT be charged a fee.

• Cancellations: In-person (drop-off) appointments canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice and not immediately rescheduled are subject to a $150 cancellation fee.

• Emergency or rush repairs: Repairs booked fewer than five business days in advance, or those requiring faster-than-usual turnaround, will be charged at 1.5× the normal rate. I will always notify you in advance if your request qualifies as an emergency or rush repair, as this fluctuates based on workload and time of year.

• Payment Policy:
Payment is due upon completion of the repair and before the instrument is released. An electronic invoice linking to a payment portal will be provided that accepts all major credit/debit cards. Payment may also be made with cash or personal check. (Returned checks are subject to a $25 fee.)

• Abandoned Instruments:
Instruments and reed-making machines left more than 30 days after notification of completion may incur a $5/day storage fee unless other arrangements are made. Instruments left more than 90 days without contact will be considered abandoned and become property of the shop.

• Warranty of Work:
All repairs are guaranteed for 30 days from the date of completion against defects in workmanship under normal playing conditions. This does not cover accidental damage, mishandling, or changes due to weather or humidity.

• Adjustment Period:
If extensive work is performed on your oboe, please be aware that minor “settling” may occur due to pads and bumpers “bedding in”. Minor post-repair adjustments are complimentary within two weeks of pickup, so please reach out if you experience minor changes with your instrument.
